In 2009, a German magazine conducted a blind tasting to compare high quality stemware. In addition to several sommeliers and wine journalists, the jury consisted of senior representatives from the most reputable Austrian and German glassware producers, among others Georg Riedel from Riedel Glas and Gerhard Frank from Zwiesel (Zwiesel 1872, Schott Zwiesel). The highly qualified jury tasted blind and by wearing gloves to focus purely on taste and smell, and the results were as clear as surprising: the Zalto Denk’Art glass won in all three tested categories Bordeaux, Burgundy and Riesling white (see attached test results stern 2009).

Having used the Zalto Denk’Art Bordeaux glass for some time at JP Fine Wines, we are excited to introduce these beautiful glasses from Zalto to Singapore’s wine enthusiasts. While Zalto features very delicate glass edges, which allow you to literally get closer to the wine in terms of nose and palate, the dishwasher-friendly glasses are from our experience not more fragile than other high quality stemware. Also the flatter than usual bottom of the glass – with angles inspired by the axis of the earth – facilitates the swirling of the wine in your glass. We think Zalto glasses are one of the smartest investments a wine enthusiast can make, as wine taste noticeably better out of these glasses, and the cost of a glass is less than a nice, single bottle of wine.
